Riesling Master 2016

The Global Riesling Master Competition 2016 results have finally been released.

This competition was different as the judges assess the wines purely by grape variety but not by their region.  For ease of judging, the entrants were divided by the level of sweetness and their price bracket. The blind tasting format of the competition ensures wines are tasted and judged without any prejudice to their country of origin. The wines were judged by a panel of Masters of Wine and a Sommelier on the 24th November in London.

Whilst Austria and France took the title of Riesling Master in Dry Riesling and Sweet Riesling respectively, South Australian wines also did very well in the competition. For instance, a few of our clients were rewarded with medals against their global competitors in the Dry Riesling category:

Gatt Wines

2010 Gatt High Eden Riesling – Silver

2015 Gatt High Eden Riesling – Bronze

Ten Miles East

2016 Adelaide Hills Riesling – Silver

Congratulations to Gatt Wines and Ten Miles East!
