Our People - Management & Administration
DIRECTOR: Steve Peake
Steve entered the wine industry in 1986 after completing an Associate Diploma in Wine Marketing and Production at Roseworthy College. He spent 5 years at Tyrrell's Vineyards in the Hunter Valley in marketing and production roles before joining Scarborough Wines where he became involved in the contract wine filtration side of the business.
He worked 3 vintages in Australia and in the Napa Valley in California, before a brief stint with Brokenwood Wines. Accepting an offer from Colin Peterson he joined Hunter Valley Wine Contractors in 1994 (later to become Hunter Bottling Company) as Operations Manager, a role which he remained in until the company's sale to Vinpac in 2000.
Following the sale of Hunter Bottling Company Steve accepted a technical sales position with Vinkem and relocated to Adelaide. After 2 years in this role he re-entered the contract bottling field and in 2004 helped set up Prowine in conjunction with a consortium headed by Colin Peterson, in the hope of offering the wine industry a fresh approach to contract packaging.
PRODUCTION & MAINTENANCE MANAGER: Chris Cook
Chris was one of the founding members of our company. He boasts an extensive background in both equipment commissioning and maintenance working for 10 years with JB MacMahon, in a variety of positions. After some 8 years working for himself and winery equipment company Oenobev he entered the production side of the business in 2002. His input into our operation since has been vital, both in the set up of our existing lines and their ongoing successful operation. Chris is our "go to" man and a pivotal member of our team.
SALES & MARKETING: Neil Oram
After 27 years in the hospitality industry including some of The Clare and Barossa Valley’s premier venues, Neil entered the wine industry in 2004, where he quickly established himself as Sales Manager in the Contract Bottling sector and in fact worked with Prowine for a short period in 2006. After a 4 year ‘sabbatical’ with wine industry specialist suppliers Cospak he returned to us in late June 2010. During this period he has acquired a great understanding of the Australian wine industry and honed his overall knowledge of wine packaging including local and internationally produced wine bottles, carton production and closures. The experience gained at Cospak together with his knowledge in hospitality service makes him the perfect compliment to our already highly experienced team. Neil is well known not only for being an avid food critic (read here eater/consumer! ) but a long term supporter of the Australian wine industry, mainly through his considerable and admirable personal consumption.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR: Kath How
Kath commenced work with us in November of 2005, with a long (and she tells us!) highly successful career in the wine industry. After time spent at Lindemans in Karadoc, Kath then took on the challenge of jointly managing the Wilton Estate winery in the Riverina. Following this, Kath worked in various administrative roles with Southcorp at Yenda, Vinpac International and Grant Burge Wines before joining us. Her all-round industry knowledge and production experience have been central to our success. Always willing to go that extra yard, especially if there is a cold beer at the end of it!
CUSTOMER LIAISON & EXPORT LOGISTICS: Marion Ailmore
Marion joined us in September of 2006 and has become our focal point for customer contact and service. She brings with her vast experience in production and export after 7 years with McGuigan Simeon in these positions. In 2005 she joined Nepenthe to take up the role of Production Manager. During her time with Nepenthe, Marion was also highly active in the export side of the business . Widely known for her love of Champagne, she is also a leader in any team celebrations!
ACCOUNTANT: Carolyn Hanel
Carolyn commenced with us in November of 2004 in the formative stages of the business. She has been pivotal in overseeing and managing the company's finances since. Following a long career in administrative accounting dating back to 1986, Carolyn joined Vinpac in the mid 90s and progressed to Group Management Accountant, a role she held until her departure to start a family in 2003. We were fortunate enough to secure her services at just the right time as she looked to re-enter the work force. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a passionate (some say fanatical!) Carlton Football Club supporter.
